Accommodation

The accommodation at Karrad is ideal for tourists, whether travelling alone, as a family or in a small group. We can offer you a one bedroom or a two bedroom cottage. Our Cottages offer you luxurious and spacious self catering accommodation. The AA has recently (October 2012) awarded the cottages as HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The accommodation comprises of the following...
  • All cottages have magnificent views.
  • All cottages flow out onto private patios.
  • All cottages are north-facing. (Cool in summer and sunny in winter.)
  • For the colder winter months, most rooms are equipped with under floor heating.
  • Each cottage is equipped with its own kitchenette.
  • Each cottage has its own Private lounge
  • Lots of privacy
  • Several BBQ areas available.
  • DSTV and CD player in each cottage, with an extensive collection of CD's available on loan for guests.
  • Undercover and safe, off-street parking.

Hout Bay is ideally situated as a base for tourists. It is within comfortable travelling distance of all the main tourist attractions in Cape Town, for example:

  • Cape Town CBD - 20 minutes
  • V & A Waterfront - 20 minutes
  • Table Mountain Cable Car - 15 minutes
  • Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens - 15 minutes
  • Constantia Wine Route - 10 minutes
  • Stellenbosch Wine Routes - 25 to 35 minutes
  • Cape Point - 30 to 40 minutes
  • Stunning Atlantic Beaches - 3 minutes to 12 minutes, depending where you would like to go.
  • Chapman's Peak Drive - 3 minutes

Hout Bay itself offers the tourists:

  • World of Birds, the biggest bird park in Africa.
  • The charming and picturesque Hout Bay harbour, with daily boat trips to Seal Island.
  • A magnificent beach.
  • A wide variety of hiking trails up the surrounding mountains.
  • Horse riding facilities.

Directions

1. From the airport follow the N2 Highway to the Cape Town CBD. (Alternatively follow the N1 Highway to the City.)
2. Take M62 (Buitengracht Street) through the city and over Kloofnek (at the Table Mountain Cable Car).
3. Follow M62 (now Camps Bay Drive) through Camps Bay to the T-junction at the beach.
4. Turn left at the traffic light and follow M6 (Victoria Road) to the only traffic lights in Hout Bay.
5. Turn left at the traffic lights and left again into Valley Road. (on the way to World of Birds)
6. The second road left is Park Avenue. We are at number 15.
